What Is RIM

The expression RIM indicates the process of high pressure impingement mixing of 2 or more reactive liquid chemical components, typically a polyol and an isocyanate, which when mixed, react together to form a urethane.

The RIM mixing head is mounted to a closed mold to contain the reaction mixture so it will take the shape of the mold. The internal molding pressure does not exceed 100 psi, thus allowing the use of lower cost aluminum mold building material.

Although urethane materials are available in a wide variety of properties, at pmi we have focused our efforts to serve those customers who require low to medium volume urethane structural foam enclosures.
